You have set up a date with the single that most sparks your interest. Now, you should want to prepare for your date in order to make it a big success. While no one can guarantee a successful first date; there are things that you can do in order to increase your chances of online dating success.

Here are 10 tips that you can use to insure that your first date leads to a second date.

  • Keep your dating expectations in check. Women; don’t be planning your wedding just because your date shows interest in having a relationship with you. Nothing will scare off a man faster than a woman who starts talking about children and marriage on a first, second, or even third date. Men; your date may be hot and even flaunting it; but this doesn’t mean she wants you to jump her at the end of your first date.
  • Dress appropriately. You want to dress to impress your match; which means business casual clothes. Women should go light on the makeup and jewelry. Wear clothes that flatter and not flaunt. Men should be neat and clean. Skip the baggy pants and backward baseball caps.
  • Keep the conversation light. The first date is about seeing if there is a mutual attraction. This is not the time to try and solve all the problems of the world. Also, don’t spend the entire time talking about yourself.
  • Be on time. Showing up late for a first date is like saying that you either don’t have an interest in the date or, that you don’t respect another’s time.
  • Plan on spending only a few hours on your first date. There is no need to drag it out if you don’t enjoy each other’s company.
  • Plan the conversation ahead of time. You don’t have to have the whole night’s conversation planned out word for word like the dialogue in a movie. But, it doesn’t hurt to have a few ice breaking questions that will help you get to know each other and at the same time keep the conversation flowing.
  • Mid day meetings are best. Plan to meet mid day because this creates a less pressured atmosphere. Early evening and night time dates tend to have the feel of being more serious than day time dates.
  • Bring enough money for what ever you plan to do. You should never assume that your date is going to pick up the tab for both of you.
  • Meet at a place that is convenient for you both. You will also want to meet at a place that is well lit and that you both know well.
  • Be truthful at the end of the date. Don’t say you are going to call if you don’t really mean it.

By following these few simple guides you are sure to have an enjoyable online dating experience.
